A podcast today isn't only something you listen to. It's watched on YouTube and cut into short videos for Instagram and TikTok. People decide in two seconds whether to stay, and the first thing they see is the picture. If you're looking for a podcast studio, look at what happens behind the camera, not just the microphone.
1. A cinema camera, not a webcam
The difference shows straight away. A cinema camera with a good lens keeps the face sharp and lets the background fall softly out of focus. Skin tones come out natural and the image holds up to colour grading later. At Mastermind Productions we work with Blackmagic PYXIS 6K cameras and cinema lenses, and we record to BRAW files, which keep all the image information.
2. How many cameras, and where
One camera gets tiring fast. With two or three you get a wide shot of the table and a close-up of each person, and the episode gains rhythm. What matters is where they go. The cameras are set at eye level, with each person's gaze heading toward the correct side of the frame, so the conversation flows naturally in the edit.
3. Light makes the difference
Light is what sets a professional vidcast apart. A soft key light on the face, a little light from behind to separate the person from the background, and colour in the space for depth. The studio has the latest lighting and walls in warm colours with small lamps, so every frame has atmosphere instead of the flat light of an office.
4. Live editing and colour
With the ATEM we edit during the recording, switching cameras as you talk. So the episode is almost ready the moment you get up from the chair. When you want something more polished, we take it through full post-production and colour grading in DaVinci Resolve Studio, so every episode has the same look.
5. Clips for social from the start
Vertical videos need a different frame from YouTube. If we know in advance, we set up the close-ups so they crop correctly to 9:16 without losing the face. That way every episode gives you ready-made shorts for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
And the sound
The picture draws people in, the sound keeps them there. The studio was designed with an acoustic study and soundproofing, and has Neumann, Schoeps and DPA microphones. The voice records clean and doesn't need rescuing afterwards.

Before your first recording
- Wear clothes in plain colours. Thin stripes and small checks flicker on camera.
- Avoid bright white and jet black. Mid-tones look better on the face.
- Come a little early, so the lights and cameras can be set up without rushing.
Where to find us
The studio is at Kamvounion 10, in Kolonos. Episodes of series such as “Eleftheros Epaggelmatias”, “En Alitheia” with Marios Themistokleous and PMD's “Inside Greek Real Estate” were recorded here. If you're thinking of starting a podcast or vidcast, come and see the space and let's talk it through.
