Corporate video, what to prepare before the shoot

Corporate video, what to prepare before the shoot

A corporate video shows in a few minutes what a presentation needs an hour to say. Who you are, what you make and why someone should trust you. Whether it works is decided mostly before the shoot. This is what we ask every company before the camera rolls.

1. One message, not ten

We start with one question: what do you want the viewer to remember? The quality of your production, the experience of your team, your service? A video that tries to say everything says nothing. We pick one central message and build the shots around it.

2. Who it is for

A client who finds you on Google needs a different video from a partner who sees you on LinkedIn, or someone thinking of coming to work for you. Once we know who will watch it, we know the length, the tone and what needs to be on screen.

3. Your spaces at work

Tidy offices, production in motion, products in place. Signs, papers and cables out of frame. If there is a factory or a warehouse, we agree on the hours when the work looks its best, when the machines are running and people are at their stations. At Viometale we filmed inside production, from raw material to the finished door.

4. Your people

Faces make a company real. A few people from the team at work, a founder or a manager talking about what they do. They do not need to be actors. They need to know in advance when they will be filmed, so they feel at ease. Everyone who appears in the video also gives their consent.

5. Interview or narration

There are two ways. An interview, where your people speak in their own words, or narration with a voice over on top of the images. An interview brings warmth and truth, narration gives rhythm and control over the script. We often combine them. Either way, we prepare the questions or the script together before the shoot.

6. Which versions you will need

One shoot gives you many videos. It helps to know them from the start, so the shots are also set up for a vertical frame.

  • A main video of 1-2 minutes for your website and YouTube
  • A short 30-60 second version for LinkedIn and presentations
  • Vertical 9:16 videos for Instagram Reels and TikTok
  • Photos from the same spaces for your website and the press

Colour and editing

After the shoot, the footage goes through editing and color grading in DaVinci Resolve Studio. That is where we match the color of every shot to your company's look, so every version has the same style.
