A song can be ready for months. The music video, though, is what people see first, usually on their phone, and they decide in a few seconds whether to stay. The more prepared you arrive, the more time the shoot has for what matters. This is what we ask of every artist before the camera rolls.
1. The song, final
We need the final mix, not a demo. The rhythm of the edit is built on it, and if it changes later, the cuts change too. If there is a release date, tell us from the start, because we count backwards from it.
2. The idea in one sentence
You don't need to bring a script. You need to know what you want the viewer to feel. A story with actors, as in «Akous kardia mou» by Panagiotis Xylos, or something rawer and closer to the artist, like «One room» by Affective. From there, we write the concept and the script.
3. Storyboard
Before the shoot we sketch the key shots. You see the framing, the order and the look in advance, and whatever you don't like we change on paper, where it costs nothing.
4. Locations, clothes and people
A rooftop, a studio, a street or a room lit in neon, as in VERSE by Mira. The place tells half the story. Along with it we settle the clothes, who will appear and which permits are needed. Bring two or three changes of clothes and let us choose with the camera in front of you.
5. Playback and rehearsal
On set the song plays loud and you sing along to it. Learn the lyrics by heart, every breath and every pause, because the camera notices right away when the lips don't match. A rehearsal in front of the mirror the night before makes a big difference.
6. The shoot day
We shoot on 6K cinema cameras and light every shot. The schedule runs hour by hour, so we catch the light we want, for example a sunset on a rooftop. Come rested, bring water and leave time for make-up.
7. Editing, colour and effects
The edit is where the rhythm of the song lives. Colour is graded in DaVinci Resolve Studio and gives the video its look, like the red light in «Till I'm No More» by E.M.P. Any VFX needed are added at this stage.
8. One shoot, many versions
The same footage gives you everything you need for the release.
- The music video for YouTube
- Vertical versions for Reels and TikTok
- Short teasers before the song comes out
- Photos from the shoot for the cover and social media
